Over a week has now passed since Cambium Networks, which specialised in providing wireless broadband (FWA) and Wi-Fi style technologies globally and to broadband ISPs in the UK, collapsed into administration. But Florida-based Airspan Networks Holdings has now acquired several of the company’s key product assets and hired over 135 of their employees.
Under the new deal, Airspan has purchased Cambium’s point-to-multipoint access with the PMP 450 platform; unlicensed point-to-point backhaul with PTP 670; point-to-point systems for defence applications with PTP 700; millimetre wave point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connectivity with cnWave (pictured – top); and narrowband communications for industrial environments with cnReach.
In addition, Airspan has also acquired the management system and planning software for the acquired portfolio, including LINKPlanner, cnHeat, and cnMaestro. Finally, in terms of 135+ employees that Airspan will take on from Cambium, this is said to include their sales and support resources in the United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa, as well as R&D teams in the United States, the United Kingdom, and India.
