Alternative full fibre operator Open Fibre Networks (OFNL), which serves developments of new build homes, have notified their broadband ISP partners across the UK that they’ve completed the integration work for FibreNest‘s network. In other words, retail ISPs on both sides of the network are now starting to gain access to each other’s fibre infrastructure.
Just to recap. BUUK Infrastructure (Open Fibre Networks Limited) originally acquired FibreNest from Persimmon Homes for a discounted total enterprise value of c. £100m back in May 2025 (here). At the time of the deal, OFNL covered an estimated 170,000 premises and FibreNest reached around 54,000 with their respective gigabit broadband networks.
The deal meant that FibreNest would ultimately become just another retail ISP on the combined network alongside OFNL’s other retail partners, although physically integrating the Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) infrastructure from two different operators is often a slow, complex and costly process.
