French benchmarking firm nPerf has today published the results from another quirky study of mobile broadband networks, which compared mobile video streaming performance among countries with comparable Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. Overall the UK came in 3rd place, behind Germany and France.

The study is based on data gathered from masses of mobile internet connection tests carried out – between January and July 2026 – by users of the broadband speed testing tools on both nPerf’s website and via their dedicated mobile testing apps for Android and iOS. The testing tools also examine streaming performance by measuring video playback quality at 720p, 1080p, and 2160p.

According to nPerf’s data, the UK achieved a mobile streaming performance of 80.5% among countries with a GDP per capita of between $32,001 and $60,000, which is said to “highlight the networks’ ability to ensure smooth high-definition video playback.” This outperforms Italy (80.4%) and the Czech Republic (80.1%), but slightly trails France (81%) and Germany (81.3%).
