The communications, internet and media regulator, Ofcom, has today proposed to revoke Code Powers from multiple UK telecoms network, civil engineering and broadband operators because the companies have either been “closed or dissolved“, or in other cases the powers are simply no longer required and are being revoked by mutual agreement.
The application for Code Powers from Ofcom is typically sought in order to help speed-up deployments of new wireless, mobile and fixed line networks, as well as to help cut costs, not least by reducing the number of licences needed for street works. The powers can also help with supporting access to run new fibre via Openreach’s (BT) existing cable ducts and poles (PIA).
In this case Ofcom are proposing to revoke the directions applying the Code to the following companies who have notified them that they “no longer require Code powers“.
